Uwe Jopp, born in 1963 in the outskirts of the city of Dresden, is a trained civil engineer and avid pipe smoker. After the fall of the Wall and the turmoil of change, spending a multi-year stay in Cologne, he rediscovered the love of home and moved back to the foot of the Erzgebirge.
Inspired by a documentary about making pipes, followed by many attempts and after a long apprenticeship with the great names of the scene, Joura, Barbi and Former, he created his first self-made pipes. Interesting discussions with Roger Wallenstein and Gerhard Wilhelm who placed the idea to break new ground and so of Uwe Jopp developed and refined the so-called bow drilling. The solution to a long drill, conducted in a large bend, given the unique pleasure smoke, and enables new and visually outstanding pipe shapes. Especially the ability to work exactly as grain and timber property, and an unmistakable flair for design language let the artist become a guarantor for the highest smoking culture.
Of course, Uwe Jopp uses only the best materials, first-class briar from any common areas, hand-cut rubber and resin for manufacturing mouthpieces. Applications are rarely used and made of different materials.
