The pipe-maker Jan Klouček unites in his works the tradition of czech pipe scene with the dawn of the modern western pipeculture. His first experience with the world of smoking culture, he made in the legendary shop, "Baker Street" in Prague, where he discovered his interest in manufacturin classic-style briar pipes. After this, he went to Saint-Claude in France, the capital of the pipe art, where he could learn many of the skills from highest-qualified craft masters.
Many contacts were made and the owner of the world-famous brand Chacom, Yves Grenard helped him setting up and opening his own workshop in the Czech Republic.
Since 1999, he produces in his factory in Kostelec nad Černými lesy, where already in the 19th Century, a center for the production of argil and ceramic pipes was at home, under the brand JanPipes pipes of various grades and types. The perfect mastery of the craft is for Jan Klouček and his company, the basis of creativity and so he produces both standard serial pipes for the domestic Czech market, but also very creative and exclusive model series, mainly for export and the international market.
Jan Klouček strongly focuses on the development and design of modern freehand pipes, influenced by natural motifs, as well as architecture and other arts. Primarily in the manufacture of the pipes is the working out of the grain, which consisted entirely of top-grade briar resource. Most of the completed works will be decorated with different materials and applications, traditionally pickled and polished. The creation of the artist is, depending on the style of the finished pipes, categorized in individual collections and sometimes, the inspiration flows into the serial production.
